The Agouti is the ultimate jungle animal when it comes to the skill of evading.

This species is hard enough to observe in the wild let alone to try and catch one with your bare hands. Being sensitive to the slightest of foreign smells you can forget about trying to catch a wild one in a cage trap, the smell of metals and plastics are this animals greatest deterrent.

An animal that would seem to always be one step ahead, even using dogs to find Agouti whereabouts often takes more than a team of experienced doggies....so how can a human catch one with there bare hands...its all about strategy and a game plan.

In the following footage Andrew Ucles teaches you two different forms of tracking skills, using both clay and sticks. The placement of fresh Clay and obstructive material on burrow sites can help in identifying the presence of burrowing species.

Deep in the Jungle where most animals live highly secretive lives, smaller nocturnal species will often reside in burrows, logs and cavities to escape from predators and the surrounding harsh climate.

Knowing which retreats to focus on is highly important as there are millions of places to hide in the jungle, this technique makes hide and seek more achievable to the seeker.
